Accomplishments

Organization
  • ERCDC was selected to be one of eight nonprofit organizations out of 500 nonprofit organizations in the DC Metropolitan area to participate in Community Wealth Ventures, a project that assists non profits build successful revenue-generating enterprises that support their mission funded by the Fannie Mae Foundation and the Meyer Foundation.
Business and Economic Development
  • In our service as a US Small Business Administration (SBA) micro loan intermediary ERCDC:
    • Loaned more than $500,000
    • Created/retained 122 jobs
    • Generated $600,000 in taxes
    • Provided 700 hours of post-loan technical assistance
  • Housed the first state-of-the-art Business and Technology Resource Center in the neighborhood. Small business owners and young entrepreneurs in the community have been able to:
  • Create marketing materials
  • Develop business plans
  • Bid on contracts
  • Access the Internet

Community Building

Youth Programs and Services

  • Twenty-six young adults received computer instruction through the Youthnet computer program
  • Thirty-six young people were introduced to potential careers in landscaping and worked to beautify their community through ERCDC's Corridor Beautification Program
  • Fourteen youth completed the ERCDC/NFTE BizCamp and operated Triple Fresh (Produce, Pride & Promise), a produce business that served fresh sweet corn and melons at 2 neighborhood farmer's markets
  • In partnership with the Metropolitan Police Boys & Girls Club, ERCDC created a College Information & Resource Center that provides young people in the community access to college related information after school hours.
  • In partnership with Olympic Chess House, ERCDC conducted a Summer Chess Camp and chess tournament at the Metropolitan Police Boys & Girls Club (#11).
Education and Training/Leadership
  • Provided training/technical assistance to over 60 individuals interested in creating their own nonprofit organization
  • Provided over 60 future business owners with training and technical assistance in starting their own business.
Real Estate

Affordable Housing Production

  • Multi-family housing renovations yielded 170 units
  • The construction/renovation and sale of seven single family homes
  • Phase I, of III, fifty-six town home project completed
  • Phase II of town home project in progress
  • Renovation underway of seventy-seven unit condominium project
  • Land acquisition completed for twenty-one single family homes
Commercial
  • Completed construction of Plaza 8 - ERCDC headquarters -- 1st and 2nd Floor leased by Children's National Medical Center
